Wassup brothas and sistas..hope all of you are doing great.Finally our parish feast day ended gracefully well.

I would just like to inform you that YIC will be meeting this Wednesday (28th May 2008) at 8pm. Kindly make yourself present and join us for our LAST rosary session for the month of MAY. We will be having a short singing practice for the Sunday evening mass. As some of you might know by now the Sunday evening mass is tha YOUTH mass...We the younger generation will be coordinating the Sunday evening mass from now onwards...wuhoooooo...So you kow which mass to attend now ya?!...

Will be having a short meeting after that just to get some ideas on what to do for our fathers on Father's Day..any ideas?

YIC meeting 14.08.2008

Hello peeps,

First off, I would like to apologize for not updating our blog for quite some time, busy is the right word to explain this. With regards to our youth meeting we had yesterday, we will be in charge of the Sunday evening mass and as an added bonus, we will have brother Gregory Rajah to play for us the guitar during mass.. voluntarily, Thanks a lot Greg!! For this week mass, we will have the combination of Stephanie and Desmond Anthony as our lectors, Victor Joab as our commentator and finally we need people (youths) to be our hospitality ministers and of course the offertory couple...

Corpus Christi mass which will be celebrated on the 24th of May at Jesus Caritas will also witness our youths conducting the mass together with the chinese youths and our guests from Kristus Aman. We will be collaborating with them in our choir practice which will be on Monday the 19th of April at 8pm, followed by Saturday the 24th at 5pm. Do join us for this practice and lets get some extra annointing from this Feast Day celebration....

The Church of St. Francis of Asisi in Cheras will be organizing "Freak Out" carnival on the 8th of June between 9am - 5pm. So far, we have four people who is confirmed going and for those interested to be in this please contact our beloved Amanda Lopez for registration. You may also contact Amanda to register for the "YOUTH ABLA ZE" live-in-weekend at Seremban from the 12th of June to the 15th of June. Please take note that this event is for youths between the age of 20 - 27 years old.

Last but not least, i have personally sent out an e-mail with regards to our meeting last week,

Introducing Priscilla, our chief Baker for Mother's Day brownies....

Always the faithful and diligent one woman show, without her I think our baking and packaging for the Mother's Day brownies would be a mess. She's been picking up the necessary skills quickly and have grown to be a prominent support figure for our church's youth organization through most of our activities even when we have fail her in some point of our activities

With hardly a lick of arrogance in her, she constantly works to fulfill her responsibilities given to her and her commitment to support of our youths is amazingly astounding, even when she was sick and Her examination was a day away (!)

Recent Updates....

Hello..
Just before we take a quick outlook on our meeting last wednesday, We would like to extend a personal apology to all who were eagerly looking forward to our steamboat outing last saturday as it was cancelled due to transportation problem and some indefinite problems that arose on the day... We're abosultely sorry for any inconvinience caused through this circumstances and will ensure that our future outing will be a successful one. : )

As for our cancelled april outing, we will be relaunching it this coming Saturday the 26th of April 2008 at Tasty Seafood Steamboat right after mass, Do come this time around as we will be providing transport and there will be no worries of any unwanted problems...

Coming to the meeting last wednesday, We will be rescheduling our Badminton outing as a monthly event due to the lack of participants and other unforseen circumstances, more details to be mention in our church buletin or here...

As many of you would know by now, we are on schedule with our Mother days progress as video shooting took place today with 10 kids and for those involved in making the Cards, please be bring your cards this coming wednesday to church at 8.30pm and show us progress, also please be reminded to bring any receipt with regards to purchasing any item that helped you to make your mothers day card... WE'll work something out to reimburse your cash if it's a valid purchase :)

Our next Video shooting will be also next week Saturday 26 april rigth after mass with youths, yound adults and adults messages and we'll be shooting straight for steamboat at metro prima and have a good fellowhip together.

Lastly , we would like to ask everyone reading this post to pray for our beloved Sister Rekha who was assaulted not too long ago..

Yes, for the month of April, we have an assemble a listing of activity to bring us through this month...

Here's the details:

1) This coming Saturday which is the 12th of April, we'll be having our monthly youth gathering at a good Steamboat place near Metro Prima (details to confirmed soon). We'll be leaving after Mass, so those interested may join us downstairs at church for us to depart...

We'll be also celebrating birthday from the Month of February, March, and April.. so again join us and be sure to have a good birthday celebration..

2) The church of Divine Mercy is organizing a night of fellowship, fun, performances in it's Easter Ball on the 19th of April from 7.30pm to 11.30pm and it's open from youths between the ages of 19 onwards and for those interested please contact Alina Morais at 0173233078 to get details of transportation (if u need) or if there's any other enquiries..

3) Finally the highlight of of our Meeting, it took almost 45 minutes to sought this one out and I'm glad that the outcome of this meeting will be successful one ....

Here's the story

- In line with Mother's Day, YIC will be conducting a separated list of activities which includes Video presentation handle by Jamie Morais, and assited by Christopher Andrew. Our beloved PR for this category will be Shaun and Vincent..

- Also being avail to all of us is the creativity department, where we'll be producing Mother's Day card, this will be commencing on the 12th of April at 10.30am, so do come with ur artistic self and bring along your set of tools to make our Mothers Day card a special one for Mother's..

- Last but not least, chocolate brownies will also be available (details to be confirmed). The people involved in this will be Stephanie, Vasentha, Priscilla and Isabelle, those interested please a line here in our comment box, and be sure to get a ring or message to whereever that is comfortable to you...

The Passover Review

I'll just say right from the beginning that I've tried to think of a few things to shorten this post but It might be lengthy - so for you to read or not to read, that is the question.

Yesterday night at we celebrated the Passover. Granted, it was an abbreviated version of the real thing but it was so neat to participate and learn about this Jewish holiday. I knew that the celebration of the Passover had to do with when the Israelites fled the land of Egypt but most of it was new to me and i'm not sure how many other people. About 30 of us sat, had a plate of lamb, bitter leaf and and some "sparkling juice" for us to use.

Everything at the passover meal has a significance and I'll try and remember them accurately. Our Passover was led by The Master (Mr. Solomon) who did things VERY accurately. We began with the lighting of the candles which is done by the our very own Ryan. Then several times throughout the meal we had some "sparkling juice", It was 4 different times, each time was for a specific reason.

Each table had some unleavened bread on it. This is, of course, because God commanded them to make bread without leaven for a few reasons - leaven represents sin and before Passover even today it is customary for the house to be cleansed of any dirt, and also to be ready to depart quickly when the time came for them to leave. Traditional bread takes a couple of hours while unleavened bread can be made in less than 30 minutes. Early on in the meal the Master reaches into the cloth and removes the middle piece of bread, breaking it in half. The broken piece is then hidden where the youngest participant is required to reveal it for our case is our own Ms. Michelle (below, sis to Ms. Priscilla)
Also on the plate is a cup of salt water and a green, leafy vegetable of some kind, ours was parsley. Each person took a piece and dipped it in salt water and ate it. This is symbolic of the Israelites dipping a branch into the shed blood of the lamb to paint it on their door post as a way of letting the angel of death know that they belonged to God and were under the blood - just as we today are under the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God.

We did eat something bitter, horseradish, and something sweet, an apple sauce-like mixture, as well. Then, towards the end (traditionally about 3 hours into the Passover meal), accompany by Amanda, Michelle handed the bread to Mr. Solomon and as a final meal, the "hidden" bread was then shared among the congregation, Finally we ended our full session of solemness by performing the dance which was participated by everyone..

Whazz up,

B4 I start off with anything, I would like to personally Angelina Verena for overseeing and revamping our youth blog ( certainly looks vibrant compared to our previous layout) and if there anymore suggestion, please leave a comment in this post and be sure we'll take into consideration..

What bleesing it's has been for us at YIC as our preparation for Lent has been a smooth on going process which eventually began at the movie screening of "The Passion" staring James Caviezel under the direction of Mel Gibson.. It reflects how passionate we are in pursuit of holiness by serving God in our family and friends (not forgeting new-comers) by using our God-given talents in His service..

With regards to holiness, as some of you might know we'll are still being persistent in practicing for our Good friday presentation.. it's held in our beloved Caritas Church every Monday and Wednesday at 8pm, so please come if u're hungry to know and serve God, come if you're lost and dont know what to do with ur current beliefs during lent, come if u love to fellowship, come if u want to learn more about us and most importantly come with a commitment to devoted ur time in God's refuge..

With that in mind, we'll be also having an evening of solemnous and observant passover meal at Jesus Caritas on Sunday the 16th of March, it will begin a "brief" intro about "Sedah Meal" and ends with a range of delicacies prepared by us also on us, so 4 all those interested in participating in our very first Passover Meal please register with our very own Ms Amanda Lopez (012-6717764) and Mr Jamie Morias (012-8783078) if in case their not reachable, you may e-mail your name and contact details to chandrewrao@gmail.com, i'll be sure to contact u guys..

Good Friday Practice

Dear all Youths...

We need U!!!! We are forming a choir to sing a song (At the Cross - HillSong) during the Good Friday, 3:00pm mass at JESUS CARITAS.

Come join us, as we sit together to pray and sing as a group! Interested? We will be having a small choir practice on Monday 3rd March, 8:00pm in JC church. Come join us for 1 hour to hear what the song is like and sing a bit with us...

We need more youths to make it a 'gempak' choir...so far, we have about 10 youths in the choir. See u alll tomorrow nite...spend some time worshipping God thru song!!'

Overnight Vigil

The youths of Good Shepherd parish will be organising an Overnight Vigil on 14 March 2008.

THEME : Keeping Lent Holy

(Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?) Matthew 20:24

TIME : 8pm (14/3/2008) - 7.30am (15/1/2008)

VENUE : Resource Centre Good Shepherd Church Setapak

As this is the month of Lent, let us come together to walk in the footsteps of Christ to ask the Lord what is the cup / mission he has for each of us.

Do keep these days free to just come and spend time in prayer, worship and in silent adoration with our God.

Most importantly, come with a willing heart, so that God may use you just as you are to bring healing, forgiveness and restoration to this painful world.

Bring along your friends, siblings and other brothers and sisters from other faiths. Look forward to a whole new begining and be refreshed by the Spirit..... Have a holy Lent.

Please bring along your Bibles and writing matetials.

Please have your dinner before coming. Throughout the night, supper and light refreshments will be served.

I will be sending the program and the registration form to you soon. If you belong to Good Shepherd, registration will be held outside the church for every sunset and sunday masses.

Love is in the air this February for we have a bunch of activities line up to celebrate God given Love not only within us but to everyone within our midst..

To start it off, on February 14th we'll be having dinner at Milwaukee (hope i got the spelling right) from 7.30pm onwards.. this is open to everyone and anyone, however there'll be a special twist as each person will have to bring a gift preferable RM5 or less to exchange within those present during the night.. Please RSVP to Shaun Anthony on your presence and be sure of having a great Valentine...

Next up will be our Preparation for the lent, we have a listing of events being planned out such as a Sedah Meal, Presentation on Mother Theresa on the 23rd of February.. do let me or Amanda know if u have any "out of the world" ideas that may be helpful

Lastly, we are in the look out for ideas with regards of our Good Friday service, for the time being we have a few ideas like singing the song playing on this blog and are always looking forward to new ones..

As some of you have already known, I wish to happily invite all youths to come join us on our Sunday outing for January.

We are going to FRIM, Kepong (Forest Research Institute Malaysia) on Sunday, 27th January at 8:00pm sharp!
We will depart from church entrance and carpool.

Bring along comfortable hiking shoes and bottle of water and some food. We will come back at about 1:00pm.

OH YES, dont forget some extra clothes in case you get wet after playing water at the waterfall area.

We are also going to celebrate anyone who has a birthday in January, so come along and have some cake with us!..

Building Relationship With God and Us...

Hey guys, How has everything been??, hopefully the New Year has brought you guys blessing and even more closer to God. Well if you feel like you have not been doing it here's an opportunity to do so, you may attend "The Chrism Workshop" on the 26th (Saturday) and 27th January (Sunday), the following timings for this workshop will be from 9am - 10pm and 12-10pm respectively.

Please do not miss out this Golden Opportunity to receive the Power and Gift of the Holy Spirit as Our Lord Jesus promised to send us. This workshop is highly recommended as it will teach us to exercise the Gift given to us. Charges will be at RM40 per person and it is advise to submit the payment by the 18th January (Friday) Please refer to this blog for more info on who to pay and further where u may register..

Ok coming to back to YIC, we will be organizing a hiking trip to FRIM from the 27th of January, the Best part of all IT's FREE!!!!, we will be able to go as early as we want and come back as late as we want, the only insufficient item we are suffering from is people with CARS!! Just to highlight, for those interested in getting themselves wet, please bring enuf clothes and if u want food (there will be food provided).. It's open to everyone too..

Plus we'll be playing Futsal this thrusday at Segambut from 9-11pm (I think)

Badminton

Dear All Youths in Christ;

We are having our very 1st badminton sessions among youths this Thursday, 10th Jan., 9pm - 11pm.

Venue is at Star Plus, Kepong (near the church).

You can either go there directly at 9pm or if you aren't sure, you can meet up in church at 8:30pm. (We will pick you up and send you to the badminton hall.)

The fee to play for 2 hours is very CHEAP (as someone in church is kindly sponsoring us 50%) = only RM 4.50 per game.!!!

Come along, bring your racket with you! That's all!

Welcome, Christmas Eve Mass and Party, Badminton

Ok before i go further and start rambling with our Christmas Mass and Party, I would like to proudly mention the amount of people we have enlisted in our mailing list and inducted into our youth group.. btw if you guys (new) are reading this WELCOME TO YIC!!!! thanks to you guys the YIC will be even stronger in fulfilling our pledge that we are commited to...

We have a HUGE 50 people which comprises of 25 malaysian and 25 africans as last counted, once again thank you for your filling out the forms..

OK. coming back to our Christmas Eve Mass celebration, our beloved Choir has requested for Youths to join them in singing during Christmas Eve Mass, practice will be on Sunday (23 December 2007) from 10-1pm.

As for our Christmas Party, which will be held at Father Mitchel house on the 27th December from 8pm onwards.. It will be a potluck style dinner so for anyone who would like to bring dishes or desserts are most welcome to contact Alina Morais and update her on what u want to bring =]

Last but not least, our plans for a badminton games during weekdays will be carried on from January 2008. The Day will be on Thrusday, from 8-10pm please refer to Brian Anthony for further details regarding other clarifications that you have..

Trust, Planning, Decision Making

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. ( Proverbs 3 : 5-6)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you SEEK ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART. I WILL BE FOUND BY YOU," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity." ~
(Jeremiah 29:11 )

When we have an important decision to make, we sometimes feel that we can't trust anyone - not even God. But God knows what is best for us. He is a better judge of what we want than we are! We must learn to trust Him in every choice we make. We should not omit careful thinking or belittle our God given ability to reason; but we should not trust our own ideas to exclusion of all others. We must not be wise in our own eyes. We should always be willing to listen to and be corrected by God's Word and wise counselors. Bring your decision to God in prayer, use the Bible as your guide; and then follow God's leading.

The reason why this is my favorite verse is because this is one of my struggles. With being a Christian I know this is one of the things I'm going to have to learn to do to have the life that I want and need with God. In the Bible it says, to recieve God's guidance, said Solomon, we must acknowledge God in all we do. About a thousand years later, Jesus emphasized this same truth (Matthew 6:33). Look at your values and priorities. What is important to you? Where is God on that list? What is His advice? Make him a vital part of everything you do; then he will guide you because you will be working to accomplish his purposes. So as we reflect on our pledges and mission as a youth group, Let's keep God in our prayers and let HIM be an example as we grow further with HIM...

Fun and Hectic week Ahead

Yes it's true, most of our youths will be participating and facilitating in Our church carnival this coming Saturday and Sunday at Canossa Kindergarten in Jinjang.. So if you have are free to help out, do let Amanda or any of our active youths involved on the day you are free and plus the time you'll be able to come..

Coming to yesterday mamak session, we have discussed about how we'll be going for the test-run on all the games plus activities that will be played during the carnival on Wednesday and the following is people that will be driving to Jinjang plus the people that will be in their cars.

Please be in church at Sharp 8pm, so that we'll be able go there early and have some fun

For our next gathering on the 5th December, among the topic of discussion will be regarding our makan-makan session at Father Mitchel house on the 27th on December, plus our badminton activity and our very 1st outing as YIC starting next year

It’s Official!! our youth group is YIC (Youth in Christ) this is great because WE finally have our own identity and soon we will have an objective for our Youth Group, which I believe will lead us to be more devoted to God.

Ok, to briefly explain yesterday meeting, for all those who will be assisting in our JC carnival will need to be in church this Saturday (24^th Nov.) at 8pm to be assigned to your respective stall and be thought on how to operate your stall.

As for our Youth Animated Mass on the 9^th December, please take note of your various duties (or devotion on the day)

We have already concluded that from January ’08, we will be indulging ourselves into badminton whereas our spot will be no where else but our “beloved” SMK Kepong Baru. It will be on Thursdays between 8-10pm. Each of us are required to pay RM15 by the 31^st of December 2007 to Brian Anthony for advanced booking on the courts, as for the remainder of the fees, Our Beloved Mr. Kenneth Karnan will be subsidizing plus the shuttlecock canisters. U ROCK KENNY!!!!

Interested participants/ participants of the World Youth Day please submit your entry form to your respective church by 15^th December 2007 plus the first payment via cheque or bank draft.

Last but not least, we’ll be organizing a Makan – Makan as part of our Christmas celebration at Father Mitchell house. Further details to be confirmed by Alina Morais.

Hey guys.. here's a quick outlook on what we talked yesterday regarding certain issues within our youths and dont worry Amanda, we wont be talking on what's happening with your leg..

> This Sunday it's already been confirmed that we will be going up on the altar to make our pledge to God and the church as we establish ourselves to be a youth group, plus as an added bonus there will be a power point presentation on our acts during our "weekend away with Father Mitchel".. so please come to church early to at least to practice our pledge. =]

C. Guidelines / Details

1. Please take not that the 1st payment must be done by cheque form or bank draft.
2. It would be advisable to pay the first payment by 15 December 2007 as the church needs time to process your application and payments.
3. All cheques or bank drafts crossed payable to "ASAYO".

Once all those registered are confirmed to go, JYC will be asking ASAYO for a fund raising programme..
For all those that wish to return later than the scheduled date, he/she will need to inform as soon as ASAYO gives us th green light to do so.

> We were also discussing about our plans for next year which will include great, fun, exciting activities. For now we have decided on playing badminton every week and birthday celebration every month..
